Envie Restaurant & Oyster Bar

One of the nicer restaurants in Thibodaux, Envie is known for serving quality Cajun food. I have been going to Envie since they first opened years ago, and while the menu options may have changed slightly, the food remains great.

Upon entering the restaurant, my eyes were drawn to the magnificent mural of a typical Louisiana scene. The gorgeous water view, dock, fisherman, oak trees and Cajun home is the perfect Southern picture. Even though I have seen the mural many times now, it was still hard to draw my eyes away from the beauty of the mural, but the wonderful aroma of the complimentary bread was too hard to resist.

It was not long after ordering that we received our drinks, complimentary house salads, and appetizer of fried onion rings. While some people are not a big fan of salads or salad dressing, Envie’s Italian salad dressing with the fresh garden vegetables is very hard to not try. The multiple flavors of the dressing were the perfect amount to compliment the fresh vegetables. Then the onion rings, those were to die for!! Fresh, crunchy, and not grease-laden, the onion rings were scrumptious. The appetizer was large enough to share with at least five people.

Some of the entrees my family and I ordered were Shrimp Fettuccine, Shrimp Stew, Tilapia, Pecan Crusted Chicken Praline, and Chicken Polenville. Each entrée came with a salad, a vegetable, and bread pudding. While I did not try each dish, I can say the Chicken Polenville and the Shrimp Fettuccine were delicious.

The Shrimp Fettuccine contained the perfect amount of garlic, parmesan cheese, and alfredo sauce.  The Chicken Polenville was a fried, boneless chicken breast topped with crawfish stew. I do not know which was more delicious, the crawfish stew or the fried chicken breast! While I did not try the Pecan Crusted Chicken Praline, I know my mom thoroughly enjoyed it. The grilled Tilapia was also devoured by my dad. Needless to say, the food was delicious.

Since we went eat to celebrate my dad’s birthday, he received complimentary cheesecake along with the bread pudding served after our entrees. The desserts were absolutely fabulous! I left with leftovers, a fulfilled sweet tooth, and a stuffed belly.

What Cajun Daughters love about Envie: We love the atmosphere of the beautiful restaurant. The paintings are gorgeous, the tables are finely decorated, the wall colors are soothing, and the smells from the kitchen are divine. Envie is definitely the place to stop for lunch or supper throughout the week and brunch, lunch, or supper on the weekends.
