MORGAN CITY, LOUISIANA

Morgan City Restaurant | A Fiesta of Flavors: Tampico Mexican Restaurant & Cantina

A family-based restaurant that continuously provides authentic Mexican food with a light twist of American is the ideal place for a fun time with family and friends or even for a fun date. We highly recommend Tampico Mexican Restaurant & Cantina as the place to eat. One of four restaurants, Tampico’s in Morgan City was the first to open its doors in 1962. Many people relish in the fresh food that is known for its color and amazing flavor. For those of you who have yet to take the journey into a Tampico’s Restaurant, you will know what you are missing as soon as you dive into the fiesta of flavors.

The atmosphere is quite the festive one with banners hanging in the hallway to the multiple rooms filled with tables for dining. Most of the rooms have a wall with a gorgeous mural of the Mexican culture. Once you are seated, you are greeted with unlimited chips and salsa. It is easy to fill up on their chips and salsa, but you really should dive into one of the many delicious dishes that the menu offers.

If you claim you do not like Mexican food, you should still try Tampico’s because it offers a variety of options other than just Mexican. However, you do not go to a seafood restaurant to order chicken so try not to go to a Mexican restaurant and order Chinese.

The multitude of dishes includes enchiladas, nachos, tacos, quesadillas, chalupas, tamales, taquitos, fajitas, burritos, burgers, salads, and soups. The menu offers tradition with a twist. The food is prepared so that it is simple but yet also flavorful. I prefer to eat the beef and cheese nachos, but I have also tried many other dishes. In all my years of eating at Tampico’s, I have yet to eat a meal at Tampico’s that is not absolutely delectable. The mesquite grilling that they use is one of their many keys to success.

Some might argue that the food is the only reason for a restaurant’s success. I think that while food may be important, the atmosphere and people who run it are also important. The owners love what they do, the atmosphere is great to have a good time and relax, and the food is divine. With the combination of all three, you have the keys to success. Tampico’s has all three and that is why Tampico’s is so successful.

I have gone to Tampico’s so many times that I know they are consistently amazing. I have been to numerous Mexican restaurants and none can compare to the truly traditional Mexican food. I may be biased (okay, let’s be honest, I am biased since going to Tampico’s is a family tradition) but Tampico’s really is one of the best, if not the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to (and that is saying something since I have tried quite a few). Why take my word though? You should go out and try the fiesta of flavors for yourself.

What Cajun Daughters Love about Tampico’s:┬áLove that it’s so family oriented and, of course, the food is the best Mexican around!
