Destrehan Plantation
Destrehan Plantation, established in 1787, is the oldest documented plantation home in the lower Mississippi River Valley. A costumed interpreter takes you on a tour of Destrehan Plantation giving you a glimpse into the life of the Destrehan family during the 1800s. A skilled artisan demonstrates one of the crafts necessary for daily plantation life. You’ll see a one-of-a-kind exhibit on the 1811 Slave Revolt and an original document signed by Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.
