Louisiana Travel : Contraband Days Festival

Contraband Days Festival
Lake Charles, Louisiana

Avast, me hearties!

Lake Charles’ 54th annual Contraband Festival celebrates the famous pirate Jean Lafitte and his hidden treasures in Southwest Louisiana.  There’s plenty of live musical entertainment during this 13-day festival as well as many other unique events to experience at Contraband Days.

On the first night of Contraband Days, you can witness cannon fire as the citizens of Lake Charles try to defend the seawall, only to have the pirates capture the mayor, put him on trial and make him walk the plank!   Visit with pirates who have docked their boats out in the lake.  If you’re brave enough, you can have a Live Shark Encounter.

The festival has carnival rides and games, a boat parade, Kids’ Costume Contest, great food, and so much more!  Check the website for schedule of events:

Gate Charge:  $10 or Gate Pass for entire festival $25
