MAKES:
1 large layer, 8-10 servings

Plain Honey Cake

INGREDIENTS:

½ cup shortening
1 cup honey
1 egg
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ginger
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ cups flour
½ cup whole milk or buttermilk

DIRECTIONS:

Cream shortening. Add honey. Mix well. Add beaten egg.

Sift together all dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternatively with milk.

Bake at 365 degrees for about 35 minutes.
