Mary's Yams


1 large can yams, drained, reserve yam liquid
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup reserved yam liquid
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon


Melt butter. Add brown sugar, liquid and cinnamon. Cook until mixture turns syrupy. Add yams. Mix but don't stir vigorously. Add vanilla at end of cook.
