Lemon Ice Box Pie


1 crumb or baked pastry, 8 inch shell, cooled
1 can condensed milk
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
3 eggs yolks

3 eggs whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
4 tsp. sugar


In mixing bowl, blend together condensed milk, lemon juice, lemon peel, and yolks until thickened. Put in shell.

In small mixing bowl, whip whites with cream of tartar until thick. Add sugar gradually until it forms stiff peaks. Pile onto pie filling.

Bake in 325 degree oven until top is golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Cool, then refrigerate.
