Cinnamon Cocoa Cake


1 cup water
½ cup oil
½ cup (1 stick) butter
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 tablespoons cocoa
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 beaten eggs
1 scant teaspoon baking soda



6 tablespoons milk
½ cup (1 stick) butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 lb. box powdered sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)


Put water, oil, and butter in saucepan. Bring to a boil.

Mix together flour, sugar, cinnamon, cocoa, and salt. Pour into hot mixture. Add buttermilk, vanilla, eggs, and baking soda. Mix well.

Pour into greased sheet cake pan. (This is a thin batter.) Bake at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes.

Icing: Heat milk, butter, and vanilla until butter is melted.

Mix together powdered sugar and cocoa. Add to hot mixture. Stir well. Add pecans and stir.

Pour over hot cake right out of the oven.
